Experiential education IS immunity
Earlier I pondered whether my generation understands immunity better because of the EXPERIENCE and MUSCLE MEMORY of the smallpox inoculations. These were required in first grade, and the EXPERIENCE taught us how immunity works. Teachers used the EXPERIENCE to describe what was happening to our bodies.
There's a broader connection. Immunity is just one of the ways our bodies and nervous systems turn EXPERIENCE into TRAINING. We do it all the time with every external and internal sense, from vision to pain to the barosensors on blood vessels.
Deliberate training by teachers or employers works best when it latches onto EXPERIENCE, like the descriptions of vaccination.
USA education generally abandoned experience in 1918 when we decided to copy the Krauts while "fighting" the Krauts. As unions lost their
purpose in the 1970s, the last real remnant died.
For a long time our education has been ALL THEORY, which means our students are PERFECTLY VULNERABLE to every sort of nonsense and fraud. When your hands and eyes and nose have been
directly exposed to reality, you can reject the pathogens of government and "science" and "economics". That's why our government hates EXPERIENCE.
In the last 20 years experience has made a partial comeback. Junior colleges were starting to offer more vocational skills and Common Core strongly emphasized experience.
What will happen now? Schools are closed, maybe forever in the craziest states. (The same crazy states that formerly claimed "education solves all problems".) Even where school returns, the bloodthirsty dysgovernment will continue to enforce all sorts of Chinese Distancing, which specifically and INTENTIONALLY means TOTAL DISCONNECT FROM REALITY.
When the teacher and students have to be on opposite sides of the jail visiting glass, it's going to be HARD to conduct every sort of real training. No cooking, no digging in gardens, no dissecting, no NOTHING. Real training involves teamwork, learning to cooperate as a physical unit to accomplish a goal.
Later: Berenson points to a
remarkably STRONG AND ACCURATE counterdecision by Australia's government. This isn't just random bloggers or twitterites, this is the Chief Health Officer of Australia. He gets EVERYTHING right. BRAVO. His statement could become an OFFICIAL MANIFESTO for the forces of sanity.
