A silent film specialist on Youtube has found and added music to this Elgin film from 1920:
This was clearly not meant as an advertisement. It's packed with specific details of Elgin's industrial processes and skills. An ordinary audience watching in a theater would be bored stiff after 30 seconds. (They'd miss a neat animation at 9:00.)
I'd guess it was meant for distribution to trade schools, introducing their students to the craft of watchmaking. Teachers would then use the advanced skills as goals during basic training.
