Must be gusts
Today's windstorm was scary, and did major damage in a FEW specific places.
This record of max winds shows mostly 40-45, which doesn't cause major damage. Post Falls got smashed, but the only record from Post Falls is 45.
The pattern implies narrowly focused gusts, similar to the burst that struck this neighborhood in 2014. Fortunately we didn't get focused this time. Lots of noise but no obvious damage. Trees, roofs, fences intact.
The Weather Bureau DID predict narrow gusts. For once they got something right.
