One non-puzzle, one puzzle
GetReligion focuses on a survey that's mostly unsurprising with one interesting data point.
The survey, allegedly large and valid, tracks voting preference by denomination. Most groups drifted
slightly toward Repooflicans in the last decade. White evangelicals moved STRONGLY toward Repoofs, and Hindus moved STRONGLY toward Dems. Among the listed groups, Hindus are the only exception to the general trend.
Analysts seem to think the Evangelicals are responding to sex issues like "trans" nonsense and abortion. I doubt it. Repoofs have been growing weaker on those issues, not stronger. Trump is purely on the other team, and Evangelicals know it. I'd guess the move is all about Israel. Evangelicals have been thoroughly subverted since 1970, convinced that giving Lord Adelson a hardon is their sole prophetic destiny.
Hindus are a bigger puzzle, and the analysts don't have any firm answers. Some think it's about the strategic balance between India and Pakistan, which doesn't seem likely. Hindus in this country are divided by caste just as they are at home. The higher castes OWN the tech sector, and are quickly taking over the banking sector from the Jews. The lower castes are small businessmen. Tech and banking are solid Dem in cultural terms, but ferociously ZERO TAX. Generic small business usually tends toward Repoof. The trend in the poll would seem to reflect the tech and banking castes adopting Dem culture, rather than the motel castes preferring ZERO TAX.
