Rendo acquires Poser
Though I use Poser every day ... more precisely every HOUR of every day ... for both work and play, I hadn't paid attention to the various online forums in many months. Too busy working in Poser. Today, from sheer boredom, I checked the Renderosity forum and found a truly surprising bit of news. Renderosity has ACQUIRED Poser from its latest owner. There's not much info or detail yet.
First thought: This is like a farmers coop or mutual insurance company, where the users take control of the company.
Second thought: No, it's not exactly the users. It's more like a major Chevy dealer acquiring GM.
Coop or not, it's an interesting arrangement. If it works, it should give more control to the users because Rendo has been in direct commercial contact with the users for 20 years. Dealers know what the customers want.
Poser's previous owner, Smith Micro, didn't have a feel for the graphics business. They primarily do storage and backup systems.
