Non-barking Guaido
Polistra likes to keep track of non-barking dogs.
What happened to our coup and occupation of Venezuela? For several months it was ALREADY DONE, according to the media demons and the dysgovernment. We had already taken over, already kicked out Maduro, and already appointed Guaido as our occupational governor, just as we did in Dixie and Phillipines and Japan and Germany and Iraq and a hundred other occupied countries over the last 150 years.
Whoopsie! Turns out we DIDN'T defeat and occupy Venezuela after all.
A quick check of news aggregators:
Norway talks failed.
Guaido is open to more talks.
Brazil is losing confidence in Guaido.
Guaido recommends that USA should let Venezuela retain control of Citgo.
Double whoopsie!
What's the point of LBOing the country if you can't LBO the company that competes with Saudi oil? That was the original purpose. Like all of our modern wars, this one was meant to eliminate competition.
Guaido is suddenly sounding more like an opposition party leader, which he ACTUALLY IS, and less like the president, which he ACTUALLY ISN'T.

Apology: Earlier I had criticized Maduro for letting Guaido run loose. In any sane country, a politician who mounts an actual coup and brings in foreign forces would be jailed or executed. That's straightforward treason by all definitions. Now I see that Maduro was (perhaps for the first time) acting wisely and intelligently. Letting the opponent use up his energy is a Russian-flavored move, probably under wise Russian advice.
