Urban cold island?
As always the Wunderground graphic setup makes it easy to see temperature patterns.
This odd pattern has been consistent for several days. Spokane metro is COLDER than the rural areas in all directions.
Wild unfounded guess: In the city, plowed and shoveled snow is piled high on hard surfaces, so it can't absorb into the ground. In open fields the snow is absorbing, leaving some bare ground. (Dec and Jan were warmish, so the soil can hold some water.)
