Didn't read the article, but it raises a more interesting thought.
Modern humans unquestionably prefer pooping in familiar and private places. In the nest.
Other social mammals are the exact opposite. They insist on pooping
as far from the nest as possible, preferably in a
public location that expands territorial range.
Why are we different? When did we switch?
