Now that's unique!
Door-to-door selling is almost obsolete. I get an actual salesman about once a year, not counting political campaigners. This morning there was a knock at the door, and I opened to see a fairly young woman. Since we had a primary this week, I assumed politics and got ready to shut the door fast, but the assumption was wrong. She's cold-calling to develop customers for her new office of a well-known and reputable investment company. After hearing the brief spiel, I turned her down far more politely than I would have done to a politician.
Have to give her tremendous kudos (1) for opening an office in this lower-middlish part of town (2) for WALKING instead of emailing (3) for seeking business in this neighborhood. It's gutsy.
But maybe (3) is smart after all. Despite appearances, I do have a fair amount of investable money and would be a logical prospect. (Actually it's
because of appearances. I have savings because I chose not to buy a car and a big house.) More importantly, the neighborhood has a couple hundred old folks who are even better prospects.
