Things worth doing and how to do them.
As I jealously watch sane countries GETTING SHIT DONE, I'm trying to figure out HOW their leaders do it. There's no point in "learning" from this, because USA STRONG is utterly incapable of learning. I'm just curious. I like to see how stuff works.
Putin and Orban had a natural advantage. Russia and Hungary retained parts of the Soviet structure, especially
state-owned capitalism which unquestionably GETS SHIT DONE, and a tradition of low debt and
high savings, which keeps bankers out of the loop. A competent leader who serves his OWN people can move the bureaucracy and the state-owned companies in the right direction. Putin and Orban are HIGHLY competent and consistent. They know the THINGS WORTH DOING.
Erdogan in Turkey started without the Soviet advantage. He faced a huge entrenched Deepstate fully owned by Soros, and he had to take DRASTIC measures to get rid of Deepstate. Now that the massive troops of Deepstate are out of office and partly in jail, he will be able to move more easily. Unfortunately he doesn't have a consistent grasp on the THINGS WORTH DOING. His central bank is trying to turn the economy away from Goldman debtism by allowing interest rates to move naturally. Erdogan wants to keep rates low for "growth" in the stock market. He's wrong. Deepstate loves debt and uses debt as a blackmail tool. Low rates induce more debt and less saving, which means more blackmail and less autonomy for individuals and business and the nation.
Salvini is a puzzle. He has a brilliantly clear understanding of the THINGS WORTH DOING, and he is able to DO THEM quickly and firmly. Italy doesn't have a Soviet structure or a low-debt tradition. Italian governments have been paralyzed and ineffective and debt-ridden for many decades. Until the Lega and 5Star coalition took power, Italy was meekly and abjectly obeying EU directives, which would SEEM to imply a Deepstate that worships Soros.
What changed? When Salvini orders the bureaucracy and military to serve Italian interests, why do they obey? Is the Italian Deepstate simply giving Salvini lots of rope and waiting for the right moment to yank him down? Were the bureaucrats secretly loyal to their own country? Are they happy to be moving in the right direction after many years of serving Krauts? I can't IMAGINE bureaucrats who are loyal to their own people, but it could be true.
