The importance of symmetrical scapegoating
If we can believe various stories, the Youtube suicider was a Persian who had been successful in the world of Youtube videos. When Youtube abruptly cut off her income, she rebelled.
Consistent: Most suicides and acts of mass violence, including riots and revolutions, are triggered by a
sudden betrayal. When you work hard toward a goal, with good feedback along the way, and then the feedback SUDDENLY reverses for reasons outside your control, your soul breaks. You have nothing left to lose, so you lose everything.
Contradictory: Her manifesto brings together a set of beliefs that
CUT ACROSS all of the Sorosian divisions. Because she's Persian, her overall goals are reasonably consistent and logical. Because she's Persian, her goals are closer to Natural Law than any set of Sorosian goals. Not nearly as close to NL as Sharia, but definitely
tending toward that side of the axis.
Because the total pattern is anathema to BOTH sides of our carefully cultivated
Symmetrical Scapegoating, her suicide won't start a revolution. BOTH sides will ignore it.
(For clarity: Not starting a revolution is good. All revolutions lead straight to hell. Being ignored by both sides is bad. Both sides are losing a chance to learn something new.)
Labels: Make or break, Natural law = Sharia law
