Dieselgate = Teslagate
Germany is still struggling with VW's long-lasting pollution fakery.
Love to watch leftist idiots fighting other leftist idiots.
Articles on DW website are arguing that diesel should still be the major power source for cars, still defending fraud.
Diesel and electric cars are BUBBLES, requiring FAKERY and SUBSIDIES to survive.
Simple fact: Four power sources have been practical for vehicles since 1910. Steam, electricity, spark-combustion (gas) and compression-combustion (diesel).
Electric power is right for short-distance vehicles inside buildings (eg forklifts) and for short-distance vehicles in city centers (streetcars, buses, small shopping runabouts).
Diesel is appropriate for trains and big trucks and long-distance buses.
Gasoline is correct for automobiles that need to travel, or autos that need to be ready at a moment's notice. Normal family cars and taxis.
Steam, for some reason, never quite developed. It
should have gained popularity in poor countries that can't afford the infrastructure for electricity or gasoline, but it didn't.**
All of this was true in 1910 and EQUALLY true now. Anyone who tries to sell alternate facts is committing fraud.

**Why not steam in poor countries? It's an interesting question. Quick answer, maybe not the best answer: Horses occupy the same niche, "burning" grass instead of gasoline. The infrastructure for horses was already there. Horses are still common vehicles in places like Romania and Brazil.

Later: A fifth basic motive source is external combustion, gas turbines. Chrysler spent lots of money and effort on developing gas turbines from the 50s through the 70s with no productive results. Turbines have several advantages, but Chrysler was never able to solve the basic safety and ergonomic problem of superslow throttle response.
