Yahoo and AOL have merged into a new entity called The Oath, with an advertising slogan 'Take The Oath'.
Not unusual for corporations to semi-seriously act like a cult or club, often with real club-like benefits for regular customers. It's an effective and positive marketing tool.
What is unusual here is the EXCLUSIONARY nature of this club. There are a LOT of serious religions who follow the Biblical prohibition against oaths. Courts have always made room for these religions, and previous club-like advertising has never ventured into this specific territory. Corporations now feel TOTALLY FREE to offend Natural Law believers. They know that believers can no longer sue.
