Another comparison with McMorris, from another angle.
Got the weekly email from the Wash State Repooflicans. They are STILL focusing on ONLY ONE THING, namely ZERO TAX ZERO TAX ZERO TAX. Still stuck in Tim Eyman Land, where everything is perfect except that we have to pay a license tax on cars. Still comparing taxation to socialism. Still idiotic after all these years.
What do state voters expect from the state legislature? We expect action on CRIME. That's all. Nothing else comes REMOTELY close.
Read the Spokane-News facebook page if you want to see what people REALLY expect from state and local government. ROADS and CRIME are the only concerns. ROADS (ie potholes and plowing) are primarily a city concern, and CRIME is a state concern. Taxes are NEVER mentioned.
Broadly, the laws on HABITUAL CRIMINALS need to be fixed. Sort out the PROFESSIONALS from the LAWBREAKERS, and keep the PROFESSIONALS in jail for life.
Locally, a center for "troubled youth" (ie troublemaking dickheads) is supposed to be holding the dickheads in semi-captivity. State law doesn't allow the center to lock down the troublemaking dickheads, so the troublemaking dickheads are wandering around this part of town making trouble. Last summer they started massive wildfires. They can't be prosecuted because of lethal PRIVACY laws, but if the holding center would ACTUALLY HOLD THEM the crimes wouldn't happen.
