The United States and Russia hailed a breakthrough deal on Saturday to put Syria's peace process back on track, including a nationwide truce effective from sundown on Monday, improved humanitarian aid access and joint military targeting of banned Islamist groups. "Today, Sergei Lavrov and I, on behalf of our presidents and our countries, call on every Syrian stakeholder to support the plan that the United States and Russia have reached, to ... bring this catastrophic conflict to the quickest possible end through a political process," U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told a news conference... "The Obama administration, the United States, is going the extra mile here because we believe that Russia, and my colleague (Lavrov), have the ability to press the Assad regime to stop this conflict and to come to the table and make peace."Doing it. Getting the fuck out. We know Hillary will resume HER war in Syria and add 174** new wars. We don't know what Trump will do. Based on actual record, he'll probably start a tweetstorm against some celebrity while hiring Hillary to run the wars and start more. Gary Johnson can't even concentrate long enough to answer a question, let alone end a war. He'd happily allow Hillary to continue starting more wars. He wouldn't even notice. = = = = = ** Footnote on 174: There are 190 recognized nations. We will NOT make war against Our Most Noble Leaders Israel and Saudi. Hillary started or continued wars in 14 nations so far. 188-14=174 nations that still need to be destroyed. Plenty of work on her plate!
Polistra was named after the original townsite of Manhattan (the one in Kansas). When I was growing up in Manhattan, I spent a lot of time exploring by foot, bike, and car. I discovered the ruins of an old mill along Wildcat Creek, and decided (inaccurately) that it was the remains of the original site of Polistra. Accurate or not, I've always liked the name, with its echoes of Poland (an under-appreciated friend of freedom) and stars. ==== The title icon is explained here. ==== Switchover: This 2007 entry marks a sharp change in worldview from neocon to pure populist. ===== The long illustrated story of Polistra's Dream is a time-travel fable, attempting to answer the dangerous revision of New Deal history propagated by Amity Shlaes. The Dream has 8 episodes, linked in a chain from the first. This entry explains the Shlaes connection.
