Where's the equivalent?
The current mess in both Repoofs and Tories has an obvious cause. Both of these allegedly "conservative" parties have totally failed to perform their alleged function for 30 years. Both are FINALLY getting their just deserts in the form of Trump and Boris.
When a profit-making company in a normal economy fails to perform its function, it goes bankrupt MUCH faster than 30 years. (We no longer have a normal economy, but this is meant as a comparison, not a fact.)
Why have these parties survived so long without doing ANYTHING to justify their votes and donations? As noted before, the votes are irrelevant. No modern party wants votes. The other brands are equally allergic to ordinary citizens. Antique laws continue to require at least one voter in an "election" to maintain the false legitimacy of "democracy", so the parties continue the pretense while competing actively for Chosen money and Chosen power.
The truly revolutionary aspect of Trump is that he takes the
pretense seriously, operates on the logic of the
pretense. He says things that are
interesting to actual citizens and disgusting to donors, so actual citizens vote for him.
Result: Donations to the usual mechanical partybots continue, but the donations have turned out to be useless. The usual bettors spent hundreds of millions to buy Jeb, who simply fell apart. Now that counter-pretense Trump has taken over, the usual bettors are violently frustrated. Game over, score deleted, joystick locked.
Fist through the monitor.
Hmm. Sounds familiar. The same bettors are also spending hundreds of
billions on Innovative Disruptive IPOs, which are also falling apart.
Convective question pops up now, surprising me: Where's the commercial equivalent of Trump and Boris? Where's the pretense-reclaiming company, the company that breaks all the rules by WORKING TOWARD PROFIT instead of WORKING TOWARD SHARE VALUE?
I don't see one, but it could be starting to emerge without fanfare. Worth watching.
