Missed a learning experience
Trump makes a mistake by cancelling rallies when the Establishment tries to run protests against him.
He should continue the rally, with lots of security, so everyone can learn what's going on. Giving in allows the Establishment falsehoods to stick.
EVERYONE can learn? Yup.
Tim Stanley at UK Telegraph compares this with the 1968 Wallace 'insurgency'. Hits the spot exactly. I was among those idiot hippies who protested at a Wallace rally. (I wrote a brief comment at the Stanley article; extending it here.)
We were organized in advance. Not spontaneous. We traveled in carpools and knew which parts of the arena to sit in. Our Commie mentor was well connected to regular Democrats, so there's no doubt who wanted us to be there. Humphrey's Dems wanted us there. Why? Maybe to discredit Wallace, more likely to strengthen Wallace against Nixon.
Wallace, who was protected by a bulletproof shield, loved having noisy protesters. He pointed to us as symbols of the problem he was trying to solve. I didn't realize it at the time, but we were actually symbols of the ESTABLISHMENT, and Wallace was exactly right whether he meant it that way or not.
I finally got uncomfortable in my assigned section and slunk up to where the other hippies were gathering. Normal people pointed to me and said "There goes another Commie."
We were proving George right.
Afterward I tried to feel righteously (or lefteously?) outraged at the dull bovine beasts, but it didn't work. I was ashamed that I had helped to prove Wallace right, and sneakingly suspected that just maybe he WAS right. Those "bovine masses" were only trying to live an ordinary life, and we Commies were trying to break into their ordinary lives for no particular purpose.
In '72 Wallace tried again, and that time the Establishment got through his bulletproof shield.

Secondary thought, more garbled than the above....
Compare 1968 and 2016. Constants and variables as always.
Variable: Economics. In '68 everyone could get a job and earn decent wages. Now it's the opposite, so an 'insurgent' has a much larger audience.
Constant: Cultural destruction. In '68 the Establishment was using the hippies and the Black Panthers to destroy normal civilization from two fronts. In '16 the Establishment is using the Occupys and the #BlackLivesMatter to destroy normal civilization from two fronts. (There were/are other fronts, mainly the Supreme Satans, but I'm just talking about protesters and insurgents here.)
Wallace was fighting against the cultural destruction; we hippies thought we were fighting against the evil and pointless Vietnam War.
See it? The Wallacites and the hippies had a common enemy, and could have acted in parallel against LBJ and Humphrey and Nixon. Allies don't have to be friends.
In '16 the culture war is over. Satan is totally victorious. So the Establishment has mainly been working on the econ side, destroying jobs and savings to benefit the Chosen. Again the Trumpites and the #BlackLivesMatter have a common enemy and could be allies.
Both times the Establishment was smart enough to prevent the alliance, keeping its enemies divided.

Update next day: Soros has officially
claimed responsibility for the anti-Trump protests in Chicago. You can't get more openly and perfectly ESTABLISHMENT than Soros. The black hole of the Deep State. And Trump is USING THE FACT in his next rally. THAT'S BETTER. I was afraid Trump was starting to weaken.
