Precisely circular dream
I was working on electronic stuff with a set of Euros. Precise genderless Scandinavian humanoids with precisely shaved heads and precisely circular glasses. People who had mastered the notation. They could analyze a circuit effortlessly and instantly with Curl and Del, reduce it to a Closed-Form Solution, while I was struggling with direct measurements and raw algebra.
When I asked them a question, they answered the same way Cognoscenti always answer my questions: not with words but with the Closed-Form Non-Answer. Pursed lips, lowered eyelids, imperceptible shake of the head. The Closed-Form Non-Answer says three things: (1) You don't need to know the answer. (2) I am protecting the answer from your Outsider Ears, which would sully the waves by receiving them. (3) You don't even need to know that I am protecting the answer, because you are Shit.
As I was barraged by this only too familiar process of Closed-Form Exclusion, a question took form in my mind. Okay, Euros, you've mastered the notation. You can handle your precisely shaved reality without thinking. How come you can't see why the EU is evil? How come you were totally surprised and blindsided by those migrants? How come every event is a Swan Of Colour for you?
I may be slow and sullied, but I'll keep my direct measurements and raw algebra. I'm not surprised nearly as often as you are.
Needless to say, the dream applies to the Cognoscenti species everywhere, not just Swedes and Danes.
