Seriously dumb.
Story:
"Ben Carson said Tuesday he would have confronted the shooter at Umpqua Community College if he had been there and would have asked everyone else to gang up on the shooter with him."
If you've been in combat, you're absolutely entitled to say that. If you've been in an actual gunfight and actually took those steps, you're entitled.
If not, you are NOT entitled to say that, because you have no fucking idea what you'd do.
I never had those Mitty delusions. I
know what I would do when faced with a gun. I'd duck and run FAST.
Carson is showing us that he doesn't understand human nature and doesn't know himself. Those are dangerous failings in an executive.

TMI: I've been in several
weaponless confrontations: in prison, when teaching, and once on the street. In those cases, surprisingly and atypically, I stood my ground and tried to dissuade the attacker. Once it worked, the other times it didn't. But a
gun changes everything. Duck and run. FAST.

Later thought: The stupidest part of Carson's little imaginary adventure is the plain fact that he's not running for Policeman. He's running for President.
Yet again Carson shows an inability to envision the job. The President is not supposed to be everywhere and help everyone personally like Superman. Even if he tried, the Secret Service wouldn't let him. He's supposed to SHAPE POLICIES in a direction that will help to solve problems. Here as fucking always, Trump has the correct answers. Fix the insane asylums, fix the school system's lethal handling of "troubled" "youth". It appears that the latest shooter, like most of them, has been "special" for a long time, which means he's been legally DRUGGED to oblivion. The solution to these places is the same as the solution to crime in general. No fucking drugs, no fucking TV. Just
USEFUL FUCKING WORK. HANDS.
