Coulda hada scribe
Convective thought, valid but not very important.
Suddenly realized while listening to one of EWTN's programs "aimed at men". It's all about football and coaching and football and victories and football and leadership and football and football and football.
Churches do nothing for non-football males, ie nerds. They're missing a tremendous source of labor and assistance.
In earlier times both Rome and Islam turned monasteries into defensible spaces for nerds. The nerds got USEFUL WORK and RESPECT, the best cure for all spiritual and emotional problems. In return the churches got scribes, mathematicians, theologians and astronomers.
Both Rome and Mecca also recruited gladiators. Missions required good warriors.
Now it's all gladiators and no scribes.
When I was young and insecure, seeking a place where I could feel comfortable and 'inside', I tried several different churches. Episcopals were pure fag, so I ran away as fast as I could. Others were normal but didn't seem to want a quiet male. They wanted noisy sports fans. Team Players. So I finally said Fuck All Of You and gave up.
