STOP THIS SHIT.
Fucking headline about some fucking Brit politician:
Charles Kennedy died of 'major haemorrhage caused by his battle with alcoholism', family confirms
No, no, no. The hemorrhage was NOT CAUSED by his "battle with alcoholism". If he had "battled alcoholism" he would not have the hemorrhage. The hemorrhage happened precisely, exactly and completely because he
DID NOT BATTLE with alcoholism.
Further down in the article:
"I also hope that politicians of all parties develop a better understanding of alcoholism, take it more seriously and devise policies to treat it as a disease on a par with the other major diseases."
No, no, no. Alcoholism is NOT a disease. Yes, it can be extremely hard to battle it, but you CAN battle it. You CAN stop. That means it's NOT a disease. It's a TENDENCY, and

PARTLY. PARTLY. PARTLY.
Stop this shit of naming a new trait every day and "finding" through intense "research" that it may be innate.
WE ALREADY FUCKING KNOW THAT

How do you know when you have a disease or a condition? You can't stop. When you're born with one arm you can't stop having one arm. When you catch measles you can't stop having measles. When you develop arthritis you can't stop having arthritis. Those are 100% innate.
Drinking is something you CAN stop, even if you were born with an increased
tendency to drink. I know. I've been there. My family has big trouble with alcohol, and I fell into it for a while. But I decided to stop falling before any damage was done. The stop messed up my life temporarily because I'd been on an extrovert career path that worked only while I was drinking. I had to find a new introvert career path and a new introvert set of expectations.
Nevertheless, I came through it. It is possible. Now, 30 years later, I'm
enjoying the hell out of life though I may not always sound like it! Every day is wonderful. If I hadn't stopped, the last half of those 30 years would have been wonderful for the worms but not for me.
