Dammit, Hunt, don't spoil things
It's always frustrating when someone who is basically on the proper side makes the truth even harder to say.
An alleged Nobel winner named Tim Hunt is
drawing fire for saying some stuff about women in science. He says they're always crying and getting romantic.
HUH? I worked around serious scientists for 20 years, in one field that's mostly female and then in another field that's mostly male. I've never seen any crying or romanticism.
The plain fact is that serious engineers and scientists don't see people in terms of gender. It's not because they're progressive or
trans or any nonsense like that. They're just supernerds who get so deeply absorbed in their work that they don't interact in regular ways. Anything outside their area of sub-sub-sub-specialization, including all that human stuff, is only vaguely interesting.
Dammit, Hunt, you're going to incur the wrath of the feminists anyway by being a male and daring to speak. You need to be saying something TRUE. Most of the time feminists are growling and roaring at obvious truth, which allows ordinary people to realize what's going on. Now you've given the commies an undeserved win by saying unreal things.
Compare with the troubles of James Watson a couple years ago. Watson said some PRECISELY TRUE AND ABSOLUTELY OBJECTIVELY ACCURATE things about races and nations, and lost his job because of Satan's uproar. Sane people understood exactly where the evil was. Not that sane people could do anything about it, because Satan has infinitely more than infinite control now. But at least we understood which side was true. Can't do that with Hunt's confusedly false comments.
