I envy these people.
I envy these people. To be instantly clear: I envy their
current situation, not their hard past.
In the '30s, the situation was reversed.
America's wheatland was suffering through a rather ordinary drought that had been magnified into a disaster by previous gov't policies and Wall Street speculators. FDR tried every possible measure to restore the farmers to their land, to restore them to competence and prosperity. He subsidized them, trained them, provided labor to build new windbreaks and ponds and irrigation systems. His effort succeeded.
The Soviet wheatland was not especially troubled by drought. It was troubled by Stalin himself. He thought the farmers were too prosperous, so he mounted an economic war against them to drive them out of business and out of life.
Why do I envy them
now? Because they know who they are. They are Russians, and they have overwhelmingly voted to rejoin Russia. They are Orthodox Christians. Note the lady in white making the sign of the cross after voting. They are actual males and actual females. They have no patience with
trans and cis and gender fluid amorphodites.
Wanna talk about "legitimacy"? These people were handed over to the fake-independent Ukraine in 1954 by an arbitrary action of Khrushchev, for no apparent reason. Now they're returning to their own
nation in the deep sense of the word, through a real referendum.
In short, these people may have lots of problems but Satanic confusion is NOT one of their problems. Satanic confusion is all ours.

Later: Western weirdos are
busily "psychoanalyzing" Putin, calling him crazy, tying him up with the oligarchs and gangsters. Nope. Doesn't work. He's certainly NOT a purely calculating zero-problems leader; unlike Rouhani and Erdogan, he's not interested in smooth sailing. But he's not out of control or self-destructive either. His macho serves the needs of the Russian people. What about the gangster connection?
This item from Bloomberg shows the oligarchs losing tremendous amounts of money because of uncertainty and the threat of sanctions. The oligarchs are trying to pull Putin back because he's ruining their portfolios.
He's not listening. So: in both politics and economics, Putin is the opposite of Obama or Cameron or Merkel. Leaving aside motivations and personality, Putin is
objectively working for ordinary Russians, not for the super-rich.
