Two small victories
The basic structure of federalism gained two small and temporary victories yesterday.
(1) A fed appeals court countermanded a lower fed Satan who had pre-emptively halted the new Texas abortion law. Appeals court says the law can take effect pending Satan's usual smashing. This means that many abortuaries will have to close today, making it harder for Satan to bring baby-murder back to its previous numbers. (A closed business of any sort is hard to restore.)
(2) Similar pattern. A lower Satan put a halt to NYC's stop and frisk policy, which is the cornerstone of a low-crime city. Again an appeals court removed the halt. This one went further, disqualifying Lower Satan Shira Scheindlin from further action on the case.
Satan will win in both locations sooner or later, but it's always good to see one or two federal employees who have the guts to oppose Satan for a moment.
