I like this "shutdown"
Was paying zero attention to the idiot antics in DC until I heard some specifics about agencies affected by the slowdown. The EPA Terrorist Army is 95% down, and the same for NASA.
YAY!
This is the only way the chickenshit fagass bitchass sissyass Repooflicans could manage to defund the EPA Terrorist Army. They didn't have the motherfucking guts to do it the proper fucking way. Nevertheless, it's ACTUALLY DEFUNDED for a while, and NASA, former operating base for Satan Hansen, is also ACTUALLY DEFUNDED for a while.
Keep it up forever! I don't give a fuck what else has to be shut off, if this leads to keeping the EPA Terrorist Army out of action.
Ideally it should be 'negatively funded'. Its employees should be placed in hard labor camps and farmed out as permanent personal slaves to people whose lives were smashed by EPA Terrorist Activity. Its budget should be tripled and devoted solely to UNDOING 40 years of EPA torture. Rebuild the demolished dams, recapitalize and rebuild the resource industries (logging, steel, coal, nuclear, etc) that were obliterated by the EPA monsters.
Aside from my pet hates, the overall picture is pretty decent. The parts that represent appropriate government activities are still running, and the parts that are pure evil are shut down. This is approaching an optimal federal government! More, please!
Later: Economist Ritholtz, who sometimes makes sense, guesses that a one-month "shutdown" will cause a 30% loss in the false "value" of the Wall Street Crime. Good! Excellent! Beautiful! Let's have a 12-month "shutdown" to guarantee that the Wall Street Crime is completely and decisively collapsed. Again, shooting would be better than shutting, but I won't quibble about verb tenses if we can zero out all the criminal false "value".
