You love "democracy", huh?
The ruling class jabbers endlessly about the advantages of something they call "democracy", and claims to be bringing "democracy" to the benighted Arab countries.
What exactly do they mean by "democracy"? It's pretty clear.
Example 1: The neocons at NRO have been
weeping and wailing about the new reformist or revolutionary gov'ts in the Arab world.
Egypt’s new anti-discrimination law — hastily announced by the transitional government in the wake of an international outcry over the October 9 killing of 27 mostly Coptic protestors in Cairo’s Maspero district — is being put to the test. The brutal murder of a teenage Christian student in southern Egypt on October 16 illustrates the ongoing threat that Egypt’s Christian minority faces from growing religious extremism, including within its public school system, and the discriminatory denial of justice in cases involving religion.
In other words, you
don't want the people of Egypt to have a gov't that represents their will. You want Egypt to have a gov't that serves the ends of Americans, a gov't that puts Jews and Christians first. You monstrous idiot, the whole point of these rebellions was to
eliminate secular dictators who were paid by America to serve American sensitivities. Now they have new (or at least modified) gov'ts that serve their own Arab and Muslim sensitivities. That's real democracy, but it's obviously not what you want.
Example 2:Prime Minister George Papandreou's call for a referendum on the latest Greek bailout plan has blown a potentially fatal hole in the euro zone's strategy to overcome its sovereign debt crisis.
The "free market" supposedly helps to support "democracy". In fact the speculator-based market, which is the only remaining form of capitalism,
hates democracy with a lavender passion, and goes crazy when a colony of the EU empire dares to give even a small voice to its
own people.
Empire über Alles!
