An actual decision!
This is definitely newsworthy:
The U.S. is abandoning plans to keep U.S. troops in Iraq past a year-end withdrawal deadline, The Associated Press has learned. The decision to pull out fully by January will effectively end more than eight years of U.S. involvement in the Iraq war, despite ongoing concerns about its security forces and the potential for instability.
This will be the first time since 1993 that our troops have actually
departed from a country instead of
occupying a new one every month or so.
The simple fact of
making a goddamn correct decision is also highly unusual for the modern DC government. Normally, any decision to waste more, consume more, kill more, destroy more, commit national suicide faster, is automatic; but any decision that leads to sanity or health is utterly impossible.
