Observations on the Seattle attack
Polistra's new icon gains a certain poignancy, n'est pas?
It's painful to hear the police and media walking on eggs. "We want to emphasize that this man is not foreign-directed or part of any organized effort..." "Given the political element of what's happening in the Middle East...." "Security in the Jewish Federation was very tight, given the atmosphere of the post-9/11 era..."
Oh? So the Mohammedan religion is not organized? Not 'foreign-directed'? And it's not devoted to the elimination of all things Jewish? What's happening in the Middle East isn't part of a war? Just a little political 'atmosphere'? Local color?
Come on, folks. Let's talk straight. This is an act of war, a guided missile that reached Seattle, even if it doesn't have a fancy name like Taepodong or Katyusha. And the Second Ford Administration won't do a damn thing in response. Bet on it. Allah marches on, with zero opposition in this part of the world.

Looks like this story is going to disappear down the Memory Hole.
Most of the people being interviewed on TV, even the Seattle Jews, are taking the attitude that it's a 'hate crime' directed at a 'form of worship', and it's 'really too bad that both Jews and Muslims have to raise the security at their places of worship'. Moral equivalence run rampant.
It's damn lucky for this Nawid guy, and especially for his family, that he chose to perform his explicit act of Jihad in America; if he had done the same thing in Israel, his family would already be toasted.

I'd rather listen to the Psalmist, who understood these matters more accurately than our modern politicians and journalists:
They have said: 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.'
For they have consulted together with one consent; against Thee do they make a covenant.
